Volunteering at VISIONS offers exciting opportunities for dedicated individuals to make a difference by working with a traditionally underserved population.
VISIONS has a volunteer program starting at age 16. High school volunteers as part of VISIONS intergenerational activities assist with reading, escorting clients in the community and helping in activities and projects. In addition to the these, adult volunteers also teach classes or workshops. We currently offer bowling, photography, ceramics, percussion, quilting, knitting, arts & crafts, library, radio station and computer classes. Volunteers set their own schedules based on classroom space availability on a particular day and time. If you are interested in starting a class, you must submit a brief proposal.
VISIONS at Selis Manor is also seeking volunteers who demonstrate a strong interest in directly working with youth or seniors who are blind. This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated individuals to make a difference by working with a traditionally underserved population. Volunteers assist with academic tutoring, Regents and SAT preparation and job preparation with blind youth and social visits, shopping help and reading with blind seniors. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application, supply references and submit to a background check. VISIONS currently has over 300 volunteers in its three locations.
