Community Outreach
VISIONS Community Outreach Department conducts presentations, makes public appearances, participates in community events, delivers testimony at government hearings, sits on city and borough-wide boards and committees, and interacts with senior service providers. Community Outreach Coordinators and rehabilitation specialists provide training on working with blind and visually impaired individuals to health care and social work professionals, health facility personnel, senior centers managers and staff, and public and elected officials to educate them about the needs and capabilities of this population so they may fully participate in community life. Presentations are provided in multiple languages and address low-income, minority and immigrant communities.
