VISIONS Internship Program
VISIONS Internship Program is designed to provide job candidates who are visually impaired with work experience, work history credentials, and income; while providing employers with the services of a qualified worker at no cost and with no obligation to hire.
VISIONS Covers Interns' Stipends: During the internship period interns stipends are paid for by VISIONS. Other than on the job supervision, there are no administrative costs to your organization.
Visions Staff Are Available On Site, At Every Step Of The Process:
- Job Analysis: VISIONS Employment and Technology staff work with you to identify jobs and tasks within your organization that can be performed by people who are visually impaired.
- Candidate Screening: VISIONS staff select and refer for interview, job seekers from its candidate pool who best match your organization’s needs.
- Job & Task Modifications: VISIONS staff perform all needed job and task modifications. These may range from installation of large print or screen reading computer software, to provision of task lighting or magnification aids.
- On-Site Support: VISIONS staff are available on a regular and as needed basis to orient interns to the physical dimensions of the work environment, to provide additional job modifications, to offer supplemental training or any other needed services.
- Internship Duration: The internship period typically lasts from 8 to 26 weeks. Many employers hire interns once the internship is over.
- More Savings: Employers who hire VISIONS interns at the close of the internship period can enjoy the long-term services of a reliable and productive employee, and can also reap the benefits of state/federal on-the-job training wage subsidies and tax credits!
